WinCenter Now Available to all X-Terminals Floppy Drives Added to X-terminals in Public Terminal Rooms SSCC PC Support Services New Links on SSCC's Home Page for Downloading Software New SSCC Publications SSCC Training ------------------------------------------ WinCenter Now Available to all X-Terminals ------------------------------------------ The WinCenter software which allows X-terminals in the Public Terminal Rooms to run programs on a Windows NT server is now available to any SSCC X-terminal. This makes windows software like STATA, SPSS, AMOS, MLN, STAT/TRANSFER, CITATION, and Microsoft Office available to X-terminals in offices. For more information on using X-terminals to run Windows programs, refer to SSCC Publication 5-9. ----------------------------------------------------------- Floppy Drives Added to X-terminals in Public Terminal Rooms ----------------------------------------------------------- Several of the X-terminals in the Public Terminal Rooms now have floppy drives attached to them. When using WinCenter, refer to the drive as a: to read to or write from DOS formatted diskettes. (The drive cannot read or write MAC formatted diskettes.) The floppy drive is also available from SunOS machines on UNIX. Refer to SSCC How-to #47 for details on how to access the drive there. ------------------------ SSCC PC Support Services ------------------------ Did you know SSCC staff can help you make choices when deciding which PC to buy? Did you know SSCC staff can help you replace a hard disk, add memory, etc. to your PC? Did you know that SSCC has a LAN that serves application software like SPSS, Stat/Transfer, VT220 (a VT220 terminal emulator), etc? SSCC offers many PC support services to its members. If you have questions about what services are covered, please pick up a copy of SSCC Pub. #5-6, "PC Computing Support Policy."
